Mallett at Saco River Theatre
Legendary Maine singer-songwriter David Mallett will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Saco River Theatre, 29 Salmon Falls Road, in Bar Mills.
In an announcement, the theater said, “David Mallett returns once again, after an unforgettable sold-out show last year. David is one of America’s true original troubadours.”
In a career spanning four decades, he has recorded 14 albums, had several hundred covers of his songs, including the American folk classic, “Garden Song,” and has performed in clubs, concert halls and festivals across the United States, Canada and Europe.

Royal stallions in Buxton return
Herrmann’s Original Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will return to Buxton for a series of shows at Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center at 63 Justin Merrill Road.
Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 and 29; 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30; 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4; 1 and 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5; and 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 6.
The white stallions previously performed at the riding center in 2012 and 2013. The stallions’ ancestry was developed in the 16th century for use of the Hapsburg royal family.

The Baxter Museum, 67 South St., Gorham, built in 1797, is open to the public 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through August. It was the family home of Maine Gov. Percival Baxter.
