The Norway Savings Bank on Mallett Drive in Freeport was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Freeport police said a man entered the bank, a few hundred feet from L.L. Bean’s flagship store and the town’s busy Main Street shopping district, a little after 3 p.m. and demanded cash from a teller.

Sgt. Nate Goodman said the man displayed a handgun, but no shots were fired. The robber fled in the direction of Interstate 295, which is less than a half-mile from the bank.

No other details were available Monday evening, including a description of the suspect.
