OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Surge (14-20) took down the Road City Explorers (19-16) sweeping them in their final regular season series with a final score of 12-9.
The Explorers would take a 9-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but that lead wouldn’t last. The Surge offense came to life, putting 9 runs on the board to take an 11-9 lead.
The Surge would add another run in the seventh and former University of Southern Maine pitcher Dustin Stanton would take over the mound in the ninth to close the game. He struck out two and didn’t allow a hit.
The Surge outhit the Explorers 14-13. Tyler Krobetzky led them with three hits on the night, adding three RBIs. Joe Coyne also added three RBIs.
The Surge have the next six days off, returning to action on Thursday at 7 p.m. against the Newburgh Newts.
