What an enormous loss to the community of Old Orchard Beach with the closing of the Biddeford Free Clinic.
The free service that the clinic provided to our citizenry over the last 22 years is a story of assisting with life-saving services those who live within our community and depended on the services that were provided. Acknowledging the gift of free general medical and non-narcotic medication that was provided, along with the Dental Wellness Center, serving the needs of our citizens is something that words are inadequate to express. The closing of the clinic for all of our communities is a great loss, and although plans are being made to cover this loss, the personal sensitive and caring relationship provided by your staff is not replaceable.
We wish each of you continued professional success and trust that you will sense the great gratitude felt by so many whose lives were enriched by the service you provided.
On behalf of the Town Council of Old Orchard Beach and the citizens of our community, thank you.
V. Louise Reid , Assistant Town Manager
Old Orchard Beach

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
