A ribbon cutting ceremony, held in mid-June, was the culminating event for a year-long project on South Portland’s Greenbelt Walkway that has preserved a piece of the region’s history.
A group of students at Brown Elementary School worked with Pan Am Railways, the city of South Portland, the South Portland Historical Society, and the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber to uncover and refurbished a long-obscured section of rail road track that was important to the city’s manufacturing past.
