Man accused of improper body storage

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — The former owner of a Massachusetts funeral home has been indicted on charges of improperly caring for dead bodies and embezzling more than $375,000 from clients.

Prosecutors allege the 54-year-old Ryder embezzled the money between 2001 and 2014 from 70 clients who thought they had purchased “pre-need” funeral arrangements, when in fact Ryder funneled the money into his own business account.

He’s also charged with failing to properly care for five bodies, including lack of embalming and improper storage.

Ryder’s lawyer, Paul Boudreau, said the indictment did not come as a surprise and his client has been dealing with health issues.

Body of missing

boater found

LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — On Wednesday, authorities found the body of a Lake Winnipesaukee boater who disappeared over the weekend.

Using underwater detection equipment, they found the body of 63-year-old Domenic Tringale of Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Divers from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department and the Maine Warden Service recovered Tringale in an area where the water was 60 feet deep.

The incident remains under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police’s Marine Patrol.

Authorities were first called Saturday morning about a boat circling off Governor’s Island Beach in Gilford with a dog on board, but no sign of people.

Marine patrol officials say a snapped steering cable may have caused the boat to suddenly turn, knocking Tringale into the water.
