NORTH BERWICK (AP) — Police say a Sanford man has died after the Jeep he was driving struck a tree in North Berwick.
Chief Stephen Peasley says 47-year-old Kevin Manion was driving south on Ford Quint Road at about 7:30 a.m. Monday when he drifted into the opposite lane, then over corrected and slid into the tree.
Manion, the vehicle’s only occupant, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The chief says investigators do not believe speed was a factor, but are awaiting results of drug and alcohol tests. He says Manion’s cellphone was in his pocket.
The crash remains under investigation.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
