The Westbrook school budget validation referendum, which asks residents to vote to approve the fiscal year 2015-16 budget, will be held this Tuesday, June 9.
The fiscal year 2015-16 school budget of $33,992,591 was approved by the Westbrook School Committee and Westbrook City Council in May.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. -8 p.m. on Election Day.
Residents voting in Wards 1 and 4 vote at the Westbrook Community Center on Bridge Street. Voters in Wards 2 and 3 vote at the Westbrook Armory on Stroudwater Street, and voters in Ward 5 cast ballots at the Prides Corner Congregational Church on Pride Street.
City Clerk Angela Holmes said a sample ballot is available on the city website, at www.westbrookmaine.com. Only one question appears on the ballot: “Do you favor approving the Westbrook School Department budget for the upcoming school year that was adopted at the latest Westbrook City Council school budget meeting?”
Voter registration is available at City Hall in the clerk’s office, or at polling locations on Tuesday. Holmes said there are extended voter registration hours at City Hall on Thursday, June 4. All absentee ballots must also be in by June 4.
