Merrill Memorial Library, 215 Main St., is presenting a Senior Seminar Lecture Series, Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon.

On May 28, the topics are medical equipment, hospice and reverse mortgage. Guests are Lindsay Robinson of Southern Maine Audiology, Mark and Kelly Hassett of MedCor Professionals, Steve Eastman of Security 1 Lending and Martha Blackburn of Hospice of Southern Maine.

The June 4 topic is care planning for future years, with Lynn Peel of Beach Glass Transitions, Mary Willson of Bay Square at Yarmouth and Rich Blumenthal of Advantage Home Care.

Chamber, Rotary co-sponsor Spirit of Excellence Awards

The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce and Yarmouth Rotary will host the 15th annual Yarmouth Spirit of Excellence Awards, Friday, May 29, at 11:30 a.m., at Tyler Technologies auditorium, One Tyler Drive in Yarmouth.

Through the Yarmouth Spirit of Excellence award program, non-managerial employees will be recognized from businesses in the Yarmouth area.

Guest speaker will be Beth Shissler, president and chief sustainability officer of Sea Bags, a manufacturer of handmade tote bags and accessories from recycled sails.

Merrill Memorial Library’s Readers Circle meets Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m., in the library to discuss “The Snow Queen,” the latest novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Cunningham. This event is free and open to the public.

Sea Dogs celebrate clam fest’s 50th

The Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox have partnered with the Yarmouth Clam Festival to celebrate the event’s 50th anniversary. A night of baseball will be coupled with a celebration of the popular Yarmouth community tradition, on Wednesday July 1. There will be a special appearance by the festival mascot, Steamer. To purchase special priced $8 general admission and $9rReserved tickets to the game, email bpahigian@seadogs.com or go online to the Yarmouth Clam Festival Facebook page. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Yarmouth Clam Festival.

The festival is July 17-19.
