Kurt Busch wins at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Kurt Busch dominated once he took the lead and won the rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway on Sunday.

Busch led 291 of the 400 laps on the 0.75-mile oval, and outran Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Kevin Harvick over the final dozen laps to end a 35-race winless streak.

The driver, who missed the first three races of the season while serving a suspension for conduct off the track, won for the 26th time in his career, likely putting him into the Chase for the championship.

Justin Rose wins Zurich Classic

AVONDALE, La. (AP) — Justin Rose birdied the final two holes Sunday to win the Zurich Classic.

Rose, who entered the week ranked ninth in the world, completed a 7-under 65 in the rain-delayed third round and closed with a 66 at TPC Louisiana for his seventh PGA Tour title.

The Englishman has won at least once in six straight seasons, the second-longest streak on the tour behind Dustin Johnson’s eight straight.

Playing aggressively on a soggy course, Rose made six birdies in the final round and played the last 66 holes without a bogey. He finished at 22-under 266.

Wainwright could be out for season

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Adam Wainwright, the St. Louis Cardinals’ ace, was set to undergo an MRI exam Monday to determine the extent of an injury to his left Achilles and ankle. He’s already on the 15-day disabled list and the team was bracing for bad news, leaving the 6-foot-7 right-hander to put a brave face on a dire scenario.

The 33-year-old Wainwright had to be helped off the field after getting injured stumbling out of the batter’s box after popping out.

NBA Playoffs

WIZARDS 125, RAPTORS 94

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington emphatically completed the first sweep of a seven-game series in club history, getting 23 points from Bradley Beal and 21 points and 11 rebounds from Marcin Gortat to beat Toronto.

Paul Pierce, who repeatedly said he didn’t want to have to go back through U.S. Customs for any more games in Canada, added 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Washington’s lead reached 32 entering the fourth.

Next up for the Wizards will be No. 1 seed Atlanta or No. 8 Brooklyn.

CLIPPERS 114, SPURS 105

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Chris Paul had 34 points and seven assists, Blake Griffin added 20 points and 19 rebounds, and Los Angeles beat San Antonio to even their first-round series at two games apiece.

J.J. Redick scored 17 points for the Clippers and Austin Rivers provided an unexpected boost off the bench with a postseason career-high 16 points.

Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points, Tim Duncan had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Tony Parker added 18 points, but Paul proved too much.

MAVERICKS 121, ROCKETS 109

DALLAS (AP) — Monta Ellis scored 31 points, J.J. Barea had 17 points and 13 assists in his first playoff start since boosting Dallas’ run to the 2011 championship and the Mavericks avoided elimination with a victory over Houston.

Dallas cut Houston’s lead to 3-1 in the first-round series. Game 5 is Tuesday night in Houston.

James Harden scored 24 points, and Dwight Howard had 13 for Houston. But the big man was kept under control after scoring 10 points with two more alley-oop dunks in the first quarter.

NHL Playoffs

CANADIENS 2, SENATORS 0

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Carey Price made 43 saves, Brendan Gallagher scored in the first period, and the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-0 Sunday night to advance to the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Max Pacioretty sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1 second remaining.

Montreal won the best-of-seven series in six games, but lost two in a row after taking a 3-0 series lead ”“ and Ottawa nearly sent it to a deciding seventh game.

WILD 4, BLUES 1

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Zach Parise scored twice, including a short-handed, highlight-reel goal to get Minnesota going in the first period, and the Wild advanced to the Western Conference semifinals with a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday in Game 6.

Justin Fontaine also scored, Nino Niederreiter added an empty-net goal and the Wild set up a rematch of their second-round loss last year to Chicago. The Blackhawks beat Nashville in six games to move on.

The Blues had their third straight first-round ouster.
