A water main break on Route 25 in Westbrook is causing major traffic delays during the Monday morning commute.

The Portland Water District reported the break near the Westbrook-Gorham town line around 2:15 a.m.

The road is reduced to one lane and Westbrook police are directing traffic through the work site while repair work continues.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
