ARLINGTON, Texas —

Former Mt. Ararat High School baseball standout Mark Rogers has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.

Rogers signed on Sunday.

The righty was the No. 5 pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 11 games with the Brewers, Rogers has posted a 3-1 record with 3.49 earned-run average.

Injuries have hurt Rogers during his career. Last season, he was released by the Brewers and signed with the Seattle Mariners. He pitched two games at Triple-A Tacoma before being released. He pitched in independent baseball with the Lancaster Barnstormers. He make 18 starts, with a 4.17 ERA in 86.1 innings pitched.
