Fundraiser to save the center
Vicki Lloyd, owner-director of the Centre of Movement, announced this week that its Festival of Feet is set for Saturday, April 11, in the McCormack Performing Arts Center in Gorham High School, 41 Morrill Avenue.
Lloyd said the show is a fundraiser for a sprinkler system that authorities are requiring to meet the building codes at the Centre of Movement, 19 State St.
Sardella named to GSB post
Gorham Savings Bank has announced that Tracey Sardella has been named assistant vice president, compliance officer.
Sardella, of Westbrook, has more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Gorham Savings Bank, she was operational risk manager, retail bank operations at TD Bank.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Maine and an MBA from Husson University.
This day in history
Gorham proprietors met at the fort on Feb. 26, 1750, according to the Gorham Historical Society chronology.
Capt. John Waite, Moses Pearson, esq. and William Cotton were chose as a committee to consider the building of a meetinghouse, a location and size. The meetinghouse was completed in 1764.
Matthews on dean’s list
For outstanding academic achievement, Allison Matthews of Gorham has been named to the 2014 fall semester dean’s list at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. Matthews is a graduate of Gorham High School.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of the Fiscal Service reported on Feb. 19 that the U.S. public debt was $18,138,459,241,907.59.
