Westbrook-based Pika Energy received accolades from U.S. Senator Angus King Tuesday for its work in producing wind and solar energy products.

The company was recognized by King and Seth Goodall, the regional administrator for the Small Business Administration, at their facility on Bradley Street.

According to Bill Card, the economic development specialist for the Small Business Administration, the purpose of the visit was to “recognize Pika’s success in beginning production of wind and solar renewable energy products for consumer and commercial use.”

Pika Energy recently received $150,000 in federal Small Business Innovation Research funding, obtained with the assistance of the Maine Technology Institute.

According to the press release, the company is entering its 6th year of business, and employs 11 people.

Pika’s signature technology, known as REbus, creates a microgrid for residential or commercial buildings utilizing wind or solar energy.
