The Gorham School Committee on Wednesday, in a 6-0 vote, approved Heather J. Perry, 41, as the town’s new school superintendent.

Perry, who is superintendent at Regional School Unit 3, will succeed Ted Sharp, who is retiring on June 30 after 11 years. Perry will begin her duties in Gorham on July 1.

“I’m very excited and eager to begin,” Perry said following the meeting.

Sharp said Perry will be “terrific,” and Perry drew praise from Gorham School Committee members.

“She’s ready to take on the challenge of leading this district,” School Committee member Kyle Bailey said before the vote.
