The Gorham School Committee announced on Tuesday that Heather Perry, superintendent of schools for Regional School Unit 3 in Unity is the sole finalist in a search to replace Superintendent Ted Sharp, who is retiring.
RSU 3 represents 11 communities. Schools in the district include Mount View High School.
Dennis Libby, Gorham School Committee chairman, said last week that the Gorham search committee had 17 applicants.
“We interviewed five candidates,” Libby said in a statement on Jan. 1.
Libby said the School Committee met in executive session on Monday, Jan. 5, to interview Perry.
The superintendent search process will continue with reference checks, site visits and a public forum scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the auditorium at Gorham Middle School on Weeks Road.
Sharp retires from the Gorham position on June 30 after 11 years on the job.
