SACO — Thornton Academy welcomed in South Portland on Saturday and the two schools would swim to a split.
South Portland would take the girls meet by a 105-75 score, while the TA boys picked up a 114-62 victory in their home pool.
The highlight of the boys’ victory came in the 400 free relay as Josh Roberts, Tom Cote, Eli Steward and Chris Steward teamed up to break the school record with a time of 3:36.53. The new record-holders beat the old mark of 3:39.55, which was set by Taylor Plante, Adam Madore, Alex Pickering and Parker Roma in 2012.
Chris Steward picked up wins in the 50 free and 100 free. Also picking up individual wins for the Golden Trojans were Roberts (200 IM); Eli Steward (500 free); Joe Vail (100 breaststroke); and Nolan Eisenhaur (100 backstroke).
The TA boys also got a win in the 200 medley relay as Steward, Vail, Steward and Roberts teamed up for the victory.
On the girls side, the Trojans picked up four wins on the day.
The 200 medley relay team of Samantha Eaton, Grace Pickering, Julia Rowlett and Mollie Eaton cruised to the win in 2:14.48.
Rowlett would go on to win the 200 free and 500 free, while Lauren Bishop won the diving competition for the Trojans.
