SCARBOROUGH – This week George Entwistle, superintendent of schools in Scarborough, is interviewing to become the new leader of the Lexington School Department in Massachusetts.

Margaret Coppe, chairwoman of the Lexington School Committee, has confirmed that Entwistle is one of three finalists for the open superintendent position there.

She said he is scheduled to visit the district on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for a full day tour of the schools and to meet with members of the school department, as well as the town manager and senior staff.

Coppe said the day would culminate with an informal public reception and a formal interview with the school committee at 7 p.m. She said the Lexington school board plans to make its final decision late Friday afternoon, Dec. 19.

Entwistle could not be reached for comment.
