Georgetown Central School would like to thank the Bath Farmer’s Market, the Freight Shed, the patrons of the market, Shaw’s Supermarket, the Five Islands Baptist Church and all of our local donors for helping out our students during our Thanksgiving Food Drive. We delivered 16 overflowing baskets full of locally grown produce, honey, jam, bread and eggs, and all the fixings for a lovely Thanksgiving dinner and food to help make leftover meals. This time of the year is so meaningful for our students, as they get to interact with local people who are so giving towards this project. They also get to meet with the farmers of the area, shop with them from the money donations given to us, and learn how their farms are operated. It is really an inspiration to our students to see what we can do on a local level to help each other out. Several of them asked if we could do it again soon! Thank you so much! You have really made a difference in the lives of our students and in the lives of those in our community. Happy Holidays!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
