Eleven guns, stolen in a burglary ring that was recently broken up, have been recovered in Buxton.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, York County deputies received a tip Monday that the guns were located in a home on Hurlin Smith Road in Buxton. Recovered were a 50-caliber sniper rifle, three Ruger special edition pistols and three assault rifles. Investigators think there still may be more guns unaccounted for, McCausland said.

McCausland said the tip followed news coverage Monday that deputies and state police had arrested three people responsible for more than 20 burglaries in the past two months in York, Cumberland and Oxford counties.

Arrested were 20-year-old Cole Meserve of Standish, his sister Amber Meserve, 21, of Limerick, and 23-year-old Christopher Michaud of Limerick. Cole Meserve’s bail is now $15,000, while the other two have bail amounts of $20,000 each. On Monday, the trio made their first court appearance and bail was increased. All remain at the York County Jail, McCausland said.

No additional charges were lodged following the recovery of the guns, McCausland said, but investigators expect additional arrests in the near future.
