BIDDEFORD — There were no injuries, but the building was a total loss as a result of a fire early this morning.
A passerby reported a fire at 4:30 a.m. this morning at 4 Journey Walk, said Deputy Fire Chief Scott Gagne.
When firefighters arrived, the fire was fully involved.
“It was through the roof,” he said.
Because there was no nearby hydrant, said Gagne, firefighters had to lay 2,200 feet of line to the nearest hydrant ”“ the last hydrant on the Biddeford side of Route 111.
The scene was cleared about 8:15 a.m.
It is still under investigation, said Gagne. At press time, the State Fire Marshal was on the scene and working with investigators for the Biddeford Fire Department.
The one-story building was vacant, and Gagne said he was unsure of the ownership status this morning.
In addition to Biddeford, fire departments from Saco, Goodwin’s Mills and Arundel also responded to the fire.
