An annual tradition at Saint Joseph’s College is getting a boost this year with an attempt to break a Guinness World Record. On Monday, Nov. 24, Pearson’s Cafe? and the college community will attempt to set a new world record for the most pies made and lined up, touching end to end. The current record is a line of 1,477 pies, recorded on May 26, 2013, in Germany.
Now in its sixth year, this year’s pre-Thanksgiving pie-making event follows a tradition of giving. In past years, college and community members have gathered to make a predetermined number of pies for area food pantries. The tradition continues this year, as all 1,500 pies will be given to area food pantries.
To reach the goal of 1,500 pies, Pearson’s Cafe? is looking for volunteers. To volunteer your time, visit bit.ly/sjcmepie. For questions, contact Stuart Leckie at 207-893-6683 or sleckie@sjcme.edu.
