Sanford High School was named the winner this morning of the School Spirit Challenge, hosted by WGME-TV, to determine which of nine schools from across the state collected the most pounds of food for Good Shepherd Food Bank. Sanford brought in a whopping 93,729 pounds. Overall, the nine participating schools brought in 336,273 pounds of food this year ”“ the most ever since the School Spirit challenge began. Students showed off their spirit Friday, Oct. 24 with a school- and community-wide pep rally at Memorial Gym that started at 6 a.m., building momentum for the School Spirit Challenge. Biddeford was the winner in 2013, bringing in 43,000 pounds of food and $7,000 in cash for Good Shepherd Food Bank.
