SCARBOROUGH – For the past two weeks, the Nestling Duck gift shop, located on Pine Point in Scarborough, has run advertisements announcing first a liquidation sale and now an inventory reduction sale.
Shop owner Mary Thurlow would not go on the record Tuesday regarding the future of the iconic, two-story store, which is located next to the Clambake restaurant.
The first ad, which ran in the Oct. 9 issue of the Current, reads:
“After 30 years we are having a liquidation sale. Keep an eye out, we haven’t flown south. We may be nesting nearby.” This week’s ad, similar to last week’s, includes information about sales and markdowns throughout the store.
The landmark store opened in 1984 and caters mostly to tourists. The seasonal location is usually open through December to take advantage of Christmas.
