OLD ORCHARD BEACH — On Wednesday, a Biddeford man was sentenced for a pharmacy robbery that took place earlier this year in Old Orchard Beach.
U.S. District Court by Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Kyle Desmarais, 32, to 2 1/2 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to the robbery charge on June 20.
According to court records, on Feb. 13, Desmarais drove Billy Schildroth to a Rite Aid pharmacy located in Old Orchard Beach, so that Schildroth could rob the pharmacy.
Schildroth left the store with oxycodone and buprenorphine after putting his hand inside his coat and telling the pharmacist that he had “a gun and five bullets.” He said not to alert anyone or he would shoot the pharmacist in the face, according to court records.
Desmarais drove Schildroth away knowing that he had committed the robbery, according to court records.
Schildroth pleaded guilty to the robbery on Aug. 1. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 18. Schildroth faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The FBI and Old Orchard Beach Police Department conducted the investigation.
