In 2010, I was among the 61 percent who voted against Paul LePage. This November, I hope to be among the 61 percent who vote for Mike Michaud for governor.

I am a Democrat. In 2010, when I saw that the weak Democratic candidate was running a distant third, I voted for Eliot Cutler. He would have been far preferable to LePage. Many others felt the same way, but not enough and not soon enough to defeat LePage, who won with 39 percent of the vote.

The Democrats have now nominated a strong and highly qualified candidate in Mike Michaud. It is Cutler’s turn to run a distant third. Now is the time for supporters of Cutler to recognize that he cannot win. Continuing support of Cutler might give us another four years of LePage. I urge these supporters to please look at the facts, and look at the damage that another four years of the same ideological governance can do to our state.

Please vote for Mike Michaud to assure that Maine once again can be proud of our governor.
