WATERBORO — The “12-Town Group” in York County, an association of a dozen towns and cities whose officials meet regularly to discuss matters of importance to local government, is hosting a candidates’ forum on Monday, Oct. 13 at the Waterboro Fire Station, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Municipal, school and county officials from York County as well as members of the general public are welcome to attend.
All 20 individuals in the 12-Town Group area running to be a state representatives have been invited to participate, and about half have accepted.
During the forum, questions important to local government officials will be posed to the candidates on a number of issues ranging from recent cuts to the municipal revenue sharing and property tax relief programs, the status of school funding, unfunded state mandates, properly maintaining the state’s roads and bridges, whether local government should consolidate, and the county-state jail unification effort.
Audience members will be allowed to pose questions to the candidates as well.
