OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Regional School Unit 23 Chairman Gary Curtis will not be running for re-election.
David Boudreau and Michelle Violette will be vying for the open slot to take his place for a three-year term, according to Town Clerk Kim McLaughlin.
Curtis, 70, has served on the RSU 23 school board since its inception in 2009. He was on the Old Orchard Beach School Board and the Regional Planning Committee from 2007-09, and prior to that he served on the educational initiative 20/20 committee, he said.
“I’m certainly not disappearing,” said Curtis. He said it’s good to get new people in office to get “a new look at things.”
“I think Old Orchard Beach is in a good place,” said Curtis. “It’s time for new faces, new blood, new energy.”
Michael Tousignant will be running unopposed for a town councilor, with a term of two years.
