On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Bishop Robert P. Deeley, of the Diocese of Portland, is pictured visiting with Pope Francis at the Vatican. During the visit, the Pope reportedly asked Deeley to have the people of Maine keep the Holy Father in their prayers, according to a press release from the diocese, and Deeley assured the Pope that the people of Maine are already doing so. It was a hot and humid day at the Vatican, so Deeley told Pope Francis to visit Maine during his trip to the United States to “experience cooler weather!”
