TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School boys soccer team opened its season with a pair of tough contests.
The Eagles opened with a 2-2 tie with rival Bath. Mt. Ararat jumped on top 2-0, with Ainsley Bryant and Mackenzie Almy scoring. Maddie Horrocks and Caitlin Chambers each picked up an assist.
But, Bath battled back in the second half.
Playing well for Mt. Ararat were goalie Abby Sirois, sweeper Amber Card and fullback Hali Pullen.
The Eagles hosted Auburn in their second game. In another physical affair, Mt. Ararat’s foot skills proved to be the difference in a 2-0 win.
Jessica Cloutier made some great passes to set up the offensive strikes. Olivia Colleran and Abby Holt worked together to secure balls and keep the back line of defense strong.
Horrocks scored the first goal unassisted on a long shot from outside the 18- yard line. Caitlin Chambers followed up in the second half with a beautiful goal, assisted by Alyssa Dau.
