Bollig scholarship semifinalist

Connor Bollig, a Westbrook High School senior, has been named a semifinalist in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship program.

Bollig is one of 16,000 semifinalists with an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 scholarships worth $33 million that will be offered next spring.

‘Elvis show’

Westbrook Memorial Post 197 of the American Legion, 300 Conant St., is hosting “The Elvis Show” on Sunday, Sept. 21.

A lunch with shepherds pie, salad, bread, desserts and beverages at 1 p.m. precedes the show, which runs from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $8. The event includes 50/50 raffles.

Kids safety day reminder

Westbrook Public Safety along with Hannaford and Saco and Biddeford Savings Institution are holding a free “Kids Safety Day” from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, in the parking lot at 2 Hannaford Drive.

The program includes demonstrations and free hot dogs, popcorn, water and soda to those attending. Ernie’s Cycle Shop is sponsoring a bicycle rodeo and bike safety checks.

Royal River Chorus open house

The Royal River Chorus will hold an open house from 6:45-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, in the American Legion hall, 17 Dunn St., in Westbrook.

Women who enjoy singing are invited to attend the chorus’ global open house, where they can learn about barbershop style.
