BIDDEFORD — The 7th annual Benefit Dance HelpHOPELive for Chris Collin will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, 8 p.m. to midnight, at the Rochambeau Club, 320 South St.
Collin was in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 27, 2008, and suffered permanent damage to his spinal cord. He’s paralyzed from his chest down, and has lost all use and feelings of his abdominal muscles and legs.
Despite the odds, and with tremendous courage, he is moving forward, friends say.
Collin has some medical coverage, however, it does not cover all of the necessities, such as some treatments, equipment, home modifications and certain medical supplies. In addition, regular and unforeseen maintenance on his wheelchair and handicap-accessible van are necessary to provide him with the ability to remain independent, friends say.
For tickets, call 590-5654. The suggested donation is $10 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
There will be a cash bar, and people must be over 21 to attend. For more information, email collinfamilyntaf@live.com.
Donations can also be made at HelpHOPELive.org in the name of Chris Collin. Contributions are tax-deductible. For more information, call 1-800-642-8399.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
