SANFORD — Three different players through a touchdown pass for Sanford as it beat Oxford Hills 27-19 in a Class A football game on Friday night at Cobb Stadium.
Tye Laviolette caught 22 and 65-yard touchdown passes from Chase Eldredge as the Spartans shot out to a 13-0 lead.
After an Oxford Hills score made it 13-7, Peyton Wiegand hit James Roche on a 31-yard reverse pass and Cody Marshall ran in the 2-point conversion up the lead to 21-7.
Oxford (1-1) made it a one-touchdown game again with a third-quarter score, but Sanford (2-0) then finished its scoring as Frankie Veino hit Eddie Michetti on a 38-yard pass to seal the win.
Eldredge finished 10 of 16 passing for 179 yards, while Peter Hegarty and Nick Love led the Spartans ground game with 71 and 28 yards, respectively.
Old Orchard Beach 27, Winthrop/Monmouth 8
WINTHROP — Trailing 8-7 at halftime, Old Orchard Beach scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half to beat Winthrop/Monmouth in a Western Class D football game on Friday.
Bryan Roberts had given OOB (2-0) an early 7-0 lead with a 7-yard touchdown run, but a Matt Ingram 15-yard TD pass to Dakota Carter as halftime siren sounded, added to by a Zack Phinney two-point run, gave Winthrop/Monmouth (1-1) an 8-7 halftime lead.
But Andrew Graves scored on a 33-yard TD run and Roberts added a two-point pass early in the third quarter as the Seagulls went back up 15-7. A Roberts 9-yard run made it 21-8 later in the third, and Roberts then salted things with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Erik Hogan midway through the fourth.
Spruce Mountain 27, Wells 6
JAY — Spruce Mountain scored the final 27 points to beat Wells in a Western Class B football showdown on Friday.
A Chris Carney 11-yard touchdown run had given the Warriors (1-1) an early 6-0 lead.
But a Peter Theriault 22-yard pass to Andrew Darling, plus a Theriault extra point, gave the Phoenix (2-0) a 7-6 lead at halftime despite a 209-88 advantage in total offense for Wells.
43 and 53-yard TD runs by Matt Vigue gave Spruce a 20-6 lead in the third quarter, and Vigue put the finishing touches on the win with another long TD run, this one 65 yards, late in the fourth quarter.

Thornton Academy 9, Noble 0
NORTh BERWICK — Haley DaGraca scored a school-record five goals as Thornton routed Noble in an SMAA girls soccer game on Friday.
Tori Daigle added a pair of goals for the Golden Trojans (3-0), who also got scoring strikes from Faith Sinclair and Brooke Cross.
