My neighbor who lives alone and has no family locally had gone to see the mayor a year and a half ago now about how to get help because she had no family here. Her name is Lois, and she was the actual brainchild for the Buddy System. She just wanted someone to check in on her because most of us neighbors work during the day, and she is all alone.
I am tired of the mayor trying to take all the credit for things that other people do, and he takes their ideas and runs with it. She does have a friend who calls her every day now and checks in on her from what she tells us. Please give credit where credit is due.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
