WELLS — Liam Bell scored three goals to lead Wells to a 4-1 victory over Lake Region in a WMC boys soccer game at Wells High School on Tuesday.
Hatim Sharaf scored the other goal for the Warriors (1-1).
Magnus Holm was the lone goal scorer for the Lakers (0-2).
Chandler Bridge stopped three shots in net for Wells, while Lake Region got eight saves from Michael Rust.
SOUTH PORTLAND 3, THORNTON 0
SOUTH PORTLAND — Kervnes Antoine and Ahmed Suja each scored first-half goals as host South Portland shut out Thornton Academy 3-0 in an SMAA boys soccer game on Tuesday.
Suja assisted Antoine on the Red Riots’ first goal, then added one of his own. Antoine added another goal in the second half for South Portland (1-1).
Andrew Coleman made four saves in goal for the Trojans (0-1-1).
Girls Soccer
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0, FRYEBURG 0
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Fryeburg Academy and host Old Orchard Beach played to a 0-0 tie Tuesday in a WMC girls soccer game at the Ervin Jalbert Athletic Complex.
The Seagulls (0-1-1) held a 9-4 shot advantage, but missed on a penalty kick in the first half.
Makayla Cooper made nine saves for the Raiders (0-1-1), and Tiffany Leclair stopped five shots for the Seagulls.
Volleyball
BIDDEFORD 3, GORHAM 0
GORHAM — Biddeford took commanding leads in all three sets as the Tigers swept host Gorham 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-19) in a Class A volleyball match at Gorham High School on Tuesday.
Jocelyn Moody and Kendra Cote both had double-digit kills for the Tigers (2-0), with 12 and 10, respectively.
Kayla Fournier had 25 assists for Biddeford.
KENNEBUNK 3, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0
KENNEBUNK — Host Kennebunk held off a late charge from North Yarmouth Academy, but the Rams were able to complete the 3-0 sweep of the Panthers 25-11, 25-18, 26-24 in an inter-class volleyball match on Tuesday.
Meg Dube finished off the first set with seven-consecutive service points, and freshman Emily Hickey ended the second with eight-straight serves for the Rams (1-1).
Golf
THORNTON 9, WINDHAM 4
SACO — Hashilla Rivai shot a match-low 34 as part of an impressive all-around showing for the Thornton Academy golf team in a 9-4 victory over Windham in an SMAA golf match at Biddeford-Saco Country Club on Tuesday.
Greg Kalagias shot a 40, while Logan Picard and Zach Foss both carded a 42 for the Trojans, who got sub-50 scores from all six top players.
Alex Spiller (41) and Bryce Rolfe (46) both scored two points for the Eagles.
Thornton won the team medal, 204-221.
YORK 4.5, WELLS 2.5
CAPE NEDDICK — Colby Todd shot a match-low 41 to spoil a 42 shot by Wells’ Seamus McDonough as York beat the Warriors 4.5-2.5 in a WMC golf match at Cape Neddick Country Club on Tuesday.
The Wildcats also got points from Nate Kaye, Hunter Henrickson and Spencer Cribby.
Wells got points from Mikey Stivaletta (42) and Cole Graves (45).
The teams tied in the team medal, 180-180.
LAKE REGION 6, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1
OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Tyler Walker carded a 44 to lead visiting Lake Region to a 6-1 victory over Old Orchard Beach in a WMC golf match at Dunegrass Golf Club on Tuesday.
Walker beat out Nate Doody, who shot a team-low 49 for the Seagulls (0-2).
Max Warden earned the lone point for OOB, as he shot a 51 to beat out the Lakers’ Evan Sanborn.
Lake Region won the team medal, 210-226.
