GORHAM — Darcie Brown scored a pair of goals to lead Gorham to a 2-1 victory over Thornton Academy in an SMAA field hockey game on Monday.

After Brown gave the Rams (2-0) a 1-0 lead heading into halftime, Ashley Houp tied the game onfor the Golden Trojans (1-1) with a goal with 19 minutes remaining off an assist from Taylor Ouellette.

But Brown put Gorham back on top with a goal less than three minutes later, and the Rams held on for the one-goal win. Thornton Academy goalie Isabella Capozzi had two saves, with Gorham goalie Megan Baker making five saves.

Scarborough 3, Massabesic 0

WATERBORO — Scarborough scored three goals in the second half on the way to a 3-0 victory over Massabesic in in an SMAA field hockey game on Monday.

After a scoreless first half, the Red Storm’s Kristen Murray cracked the net just over 4 minutes into the second half on an unassisted goal to start the scoring.

Three minutes later, Ashley Levesque assisted Maddy Dobecki during on a penalty corner to make it 2-0. Abby Walker then finished the scoring with 9:11 to play on an assist from Caitlin Merril.

Massabesic (0-2) goale Kelly Wescott made 13 saves, with Scarborough (2-0) goalie Alyssa Souza making three stops.

Wells 3, Traip Academy 0

WELLS — Takara McDermott scored a pair of goals and Maddie Moulison added a third as Wells (1-1) beat Traip Academy (0-2) in a Western Maine Conference field hockey game on Monday at Wells Junior High School.

Kennebunk 9.5, Massabesic 3.5

KENNEBUNK — Jack Graydon and Joe Beaudoin both shot a 46 to lead Kennebunk past Massabesic by a score of 9.5-3.5 in a golf match at Webhannet Golf Club on Monday.

Sam Heikkinen did his part for Kennebunk by shooting a 47, as the Rams’ Nos. 3-6 players each earned two points.

Andrew Lee scored two points for the Mustangs, as he shot a 47, and Matt Prokey earned 1.5 points after shooting a 50 and playing even with Kennebunk’s Dom Horitos in match play.

The Rams won the team medal, 245-280.

Marshwood 12.5, Sanford 0.5

SOUTH BERWICK — Marshwood topped Sanford 12.5-0.5 in an SMAA golf match at The Links At Outlook on Monday.

Marshwood (2-0) outshot the Spartans (0-1) by 218 strokes to 269.
