SANFORD — Attorney Laurence Adams has joined Caring Unlimited’s Legal Department as the second of two staff attorneys providing legal assistance to victims of domestic violence in York County in protection from abuse, divorce, and child custody cases.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Adams says he has enjoyed making Maine his home for the past five years. During this time, he received his juris doctorate from the University of Maine School of Law, and said he is thrilled to be joining the Caring Unlimited legal team.
“I look forward to being part of the important work of Caring Unlimited, and providing legal help and resources to those most in need,” Adams said.
Caring Unlimited’s legal team consists of two full-time attorneys and two full-time court advocates. Each year, nearly 700 individuals in York County receive critical assistance on a variety of cases from the team, and as a result, are more often able to safely end the relationship with the abusive partner.
In addition to legal services, Caring Unlimited provides various direct support and safety planning services to individuals in York County whose lives are affected by domestic abuse, including a 24-hour hotline.
