BATH — A previously scheduled meeting for the Maine Department of Transportation to discuss planned replacement of the Route 1 Viaduct superstructure has been postponed to Oct. 9.
The formal public hearing was initially scheduled for tonight, but instead will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 in the City Hall auditorium. MDOT officials will be on hand to listen to concerns and answer questions about the project.
The MDOT plans to replace the 55- year- old viaduct — the western approach bridge to the Sagadahoc Bridge. The entire project could span nine or 10 months and the hope is the viaduct, which may close around the first of January 2016, won’t be closed for more than four months, officials said at an April meeting.
