History talk focuses on stone cutter

Ron Romano will present a program about an early stone cutter when the Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.

Romano, a tour guide for Friends of Eastern Cemetery in Portland, has researched and studied the life and work of Bartlett Adams (1776-1828). Adams came to Maine from Massachusetts and established a stone cutting shop, producing hearthstones, mantlepieces and gravestones. Some of Adams’ work is found in Westbrook cemeteries.
