BOWDOINHAM
Nomination papers became available at the town office last week for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen.
Both positions are for three-year terms. Nomination papers should include the signatures of between 25 and 35 registered Bowdoinham voters — no less than 25 valid signatures — and must be returned to the town office by 4 p.m. Sept. 22.
Selectmen Kathy Gallant and Theresa Turgeon have terms expiring. Turgeon said she plans to run for re-election. Gallant, who said she has enjoyed her time serving on the Board of Selectmen, will not be running again. She will continue to serve on the boards of the Bowdoinham Community Development Initiative and the Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
