WELLS — The Wells-Ogunquit Community School District school and selection committees met Aug. 5 to review general contractor and subcontractor bids for the construction of Wells High School.
After evaluating all bids and alternates, Arthur C. Dudley Contractor Builder, Inc. of Standish was issued a notice to proceed, according to a statement from the school district.
“We look forward to beginning the next exciting phase of this project,” said Superintendent of Schools Ellen Schneider. “This is one more important step toward our end result: a state-of-the-art school befitting of our students and staff.”
The contractor will work with the design team, Lavallee Brensinger Architects of Manchester, New Hampshire, to install temporary barriers for site security before the start of school. The school committee will finalize contract requirements with the contractor and design team, and expect to enter into contract with Arthur C. Dudley Contractor Builder later this month.
A formal ground breaking ceremony will be held in the fall.
