ST. ALBANS (AP) — Weather service officials confirmed on Thursday that a tornado hit a small town in central Maine earlier this week.

John Jensenius, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service who surveyed the damage, told WMTW-TV that an EF1 tornado with winds of 80 to 90 mph touched down in St. Albans in Somerset County on Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

Maine towns have been cleaning up damage after the powerful storms rolled through the state, bringing down trees and power lines, knocking out electricity for thousands of customers.

Other areas hit hard by Tuesday’s storm included York, where weather service officials said a microburst — an intense, localized downdraft — hit with winds between 70 and 80 mph. Madison and Farmington also saw flash flooding.
