“Billy Elliot The Musical,” a show about a young boy discovering a passion for dance, featuring a score written by Elton John, is now showing at the Ogunquit Playhouse through July 26. “The Music Man” will show at the Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick, opening Wednesday, July 9 and running through Saturday, July 26. The Music Man is the story of a fast-talking salesman as he cons the good people of River City, Iowa. “The Full Monty Musical” will show at Biddeford’s City Theater, 205 Main St., July 11-27, with showings at Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The show combines comedy with the poignancy of a job loss, in telling the story of Jerry Lukowski, an unemployed steel worker who convinces his friends to attempt a foray into strip-tease to make money. “Arsenic and Old Lace” is showing at the Hackmatack Playhouse through July 5. Carol Davenport and Tinka Darling Finley, who were both in the 1992 version, return to recreate the roles of the homicidal aunts this summer in this comedy about the crazy Brewster family. Hackmatack Playhouse is located on School Street (Route 9) in Berwick. “Snake in the Grass,” a thriller by Alan Ayckbourn, will show in its Maine premiere at the Saco River Theatre, Bar Mills, July 18, 19, and 24-26 at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee, July 20 at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 18 and Thursday, July 24 are pay-what-you-can. Painter Bruce Iverson’s Asian brush paintings will be showcased at the Just Us Chickens gallery, 16A Shapleigh Road, Kittery, throughout the month of July. Art HOPE Creative Wellness Walks will be offered at Laudholm Farm on Tuesday, July 29 and Aug. 26, 10 a.m. to noon. Artists of all ages can enjoy a gentle hike and fresh air arts on the lawn at Laudholm Farm at the Wells Reserve. Art HOPE artist-in-residence Laura Jaquays will demonstrate simple watercolor techniques and discuss the benefits of everyday creativity for health and well-being. Drawing and painting materials will be provided or field artists may bring their own. Participants should dress for a summer hike, bring water and a snack, and meet at the Visitor’s Center. A collection of photographs by David Bishop will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from July 1 through Aug. 4. A photographer for the past 40 years, Bishop has had a special interest in creating panoramas for over 20 years, particularly of the Maine seashore. The photo exhibit is free and open to the public. Accomplished singer and instrumentalist Monica Grabin will perform “We Did It Before & We Can Do It Again: Songs of World War II,” on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at the Brick Store Museum. Admission to the concert performances is free to museum members. Tickets will be sold at the door. She will combine her musical talents on guitar, banjo and percussion with imagery from the museum’s collection of World War I recruitment and morale posters. The Wells Reserve at Laudholm, 342 Laudholm Farm Road, Wells, presents seven concerts in the historic Laudholm barn this summer and fall, beginning with four Thursday evening concerts in July. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Laudholm Trust. On Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m., the DaPonte String Quartet’s “Made in America” program will feature music by George Gershwin, Samuel Barber, George Crumb and other American composers. Historic New England announces the line-up for the popular Sundays in the Garden Concert Series, now in its 23rd year. Concerts are held every Sunday in July at 5 p.m. in the garden of the historic Hamilton House in South Berwick. Participants should being a picnic basket and lawn chairs. Acoustic musician Harvey Reid will perform on July 6 and French-Canadian cover band La Madeleine will perform on July 13. Elements: Books Coffee Beer, 265 Main St., Biddeford, announces its performances in July: On Saturday, July 5, Starlight Cicada and Badfellows will perform indie folk rock at 8 p.m.; on Sunday, July 6 at 1 p.m., the cast of City Theater’s “The Full Monty Musical” will offer a sneak preview performance of selections from the show; on Friday, July 11 at 8 p.m., the Kyle Hardy Jazz Trio will perform early jazz standards and contemporary compositions; on Saturday, July 12 at 8 p.m., An Overnight Low will perform indie rock; on Tuesday, July 15 at 8 p.m., Jessi McKinnon will perform acoustic Americana.

The summer concert series at Wells Harbor Park will take place on Saturdays through Aug. 30. All concerts will be at the Hope Hobbs Gazebo on Landing Road (off Route 1). Rain location is Ward Gym at Wells Junior High School on Route 1. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and run for about an hour. Admission is free thanks to sponsor support. Concert-goers should bring their own blanket or chair. On July 5, the Strafford Wind Symphony will perform patriotic and traditional music.

The Town of South Berwick will host its Hot Summer Nights Concert Series on Thursday evenings, beginning on July 10 with Martin England, on the Central School lawn. Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals will perform at Goodall Park in Sanford on Sunday, July 6 at 7 p.m. Big John Rachkoskie will be the opening act, with doors open at 5:30 p.m. The Rascals were at their height of popularity between 1965-72, combining British Invasion-style rock and roll with soul on hits like “Good Lovin’,” “Groovin’,” and “People Got to Be Free.” The concert will take place rain or shine, with covered stadium seating, and food will be available for purchase. Shape note singing will take place Sunday, July 6 from 1-4 p.m. at The New Church, 302 Stevens Ave., Portland. This four-part singing tradition, also known as sacred harp, originated in Colonial America and is enjoying a revival nationwide. Leavitt Theatre will host a summer silent film series with live music featuring comedies and dramas from the early days of cinema. Most screenings will be on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m., with “The Lost World” slated for tonight, July 3. “Silent Comedy with Buster Keaton” will follow on July 17.
