SACO — Jennifer Mary Scontras, daughter of Stanley and Mary Scontras of Saco, was named to the Spring 2014 Dean’s List at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Jennifer, who graduated from Thornton Academy in 2011, completed her junior year. She is a double major in neuroscience and Classical Studies, and is on a pre-medicine path. She is part of a team translating an ancient Homeric text, and is interning at the Eunice M. Cohen Classical Artifact Research Center. She is a certified EMT in Maine and Massachusetts. At Brandeis, she was selected to be the director of operations of the Brandeis campus Emergency Services. In this capacity, she is responsible for personnel management, day-to-day operations, organizational oversight, and interacts with the campus medical director. She is also a volunteer with the Kennebunkport EMT services when in Maine.
She is a teaching assistant in lab classes and continues to be an orientation leader for new freshmen in the fall. And she has been a member of the campus a capella group, Rather Be Giraffes, arranging musical pieces and singing.
