PORTLAND — As part of Maine Startup & Create Week, E2Tech is bringing together three new and dynamic companies and the next generation of wind, tidal and biomass energy technologies. The founders and CEOs of Ocean Renewable Power Company, Interphase Energy and Altaeros Energies will share their entrepreneurial paths, their target markets and their plans to transform how homes and businesses use renewable energy resources.
The forum, titled “Navigating the Northeastern Cleantech Cluster Through Wind, Water & Woods,” takes place on Thursday, June 19, from 7:15 to 9:30 a.m., at Mariner’s Church, 368 Fore St., Portland.
E2Tech will also introduce the Cleantech Navigate Northeast system to connect Maine’s startup companies and entrepreneurs with regional investment, mentor, customer and other business development support.
The speakers are:
— Chris Sauer, president and CEO, Ocean Renewable Power Company. Since 2004, ORPC has been at work developing breakthrough technology and projects that use ocean and river currents to produce clean, predictable electricity to power our homes and businesses while protecting our environment.
— Ryan Hamilton, managing partner, Interphase Energy. Interphase Energy is focused on transforming the Maine energy market to provide jobs for Mainers and sustainable heating solutions for everyone. It started by bringing state-of-the-art wood pellet boiler technology to the North American market as Kedel.
— Ben Glass, founder and CEO, Altaeros Energies. Currently housed at Greentown Labs in Cambridge, Altaeros is developing a breakthrough airborne wind turbine to produce low cost, renewable energy and uses aerospace technology to lift wind turbines at higher heights where winds are much stronger and more consistent than on the ground.
— Kim Herb, Innovation Program manager, NECEC Institute and Cleantech Open Northeast. The Cleantech Navigate Northeast (“Navigate”), is a “one-stop shop” regional organization that supports, coordinates, maps and directs entrepreneurs to many valuable resources for cleantech innovation, entrepreneurship and commercialization across the region.
