PORTLAND — The Blunt Youth Radio Project is recruiting high school-aged teens to receive free training in radio journalism and broadcasting.
An open house is slated for Monday, June 16 from 7-8:30 p.m. at WMPG, Southern Maine Community Radio, 92 Bedford St., on the USM Portland Campus, during Blunt’s regular live Monday night broadcast.
Visitors will have the chance to see the live show, be interviewed on-air and enjoy some free pizza and root beer.
Since 1994, Blunt Youth Radio Project has brought together teenagers from a variety of schools to produce a weekly, call-in, public affairs radio show on WMPG-FM, 90.9 and 104.1, the nonprofit, community radio station of the University of Southern Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
