WELLS — Residents from Atria Kennebunk were able to get in one more visit with the children from Wells Elementary School before the end of the school year. The fourth-grade math class was led by teacher Roni Johnson, who encouraged the students, and Atria residents, to explore the concept of symmetry. She asked everyone to create a quilt pattern with only one line of symmetry. To tie it all together, she also read a book written by Lisa Campbell, called “The Blue Ribbon Quilt.”
“The classroom is so much bigger than how I remembered,” said Atria resident Cecile Travers. “Everyone is so eager so learn and work with the different materials. There’s a lot more to symmetry than I thought.”
