At the May 22 School Administrative District 15 district budget meeting, New Gloucester resident Sean Chayer makes an amendment to an article reducing the co-curricular portion of the FY 2014-15 budget by $77,000. His amendment failed to pass, and he said that the 10.9 percent overall increase could tax him out of his home. The $1.07 per thousand tax rate increase for a $200,000 property in New Gloucester would amount to an additional $214 on the school portion of the tax bill alone. The proposed school budget passed at the meeting, and it now faces a validation referendum vote at the June 10 election.
