KENNEBUNK — Registration is now open for the 104th season at the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association. Again this summer, KBIA will offer eight weeks of summer recreational and enrichment classes for ages 3-17, starting June 23.

KBIA will again waive the membership fee for all Week 1 participants (June 23-27) as a way for first-time families to try out KBIA with no commitment.

The nonprofit summer camp offers swimming, sailing, surfing, standup paddleboarding, kayaking, diving, golf, tennis, drama, arts and crafts, and woodworking, among its 50-plus course offerings.

All classes are open to KBIA members, and membership is open to the public. Campers register by the week, and classes are offered a la carte or as a “bundle” for morning and/or afternoon sessions. Family memberships include twice-daily open swim for children, weekly beach bonfire and barbecues followed by movie night, open sail/kayaks on most weekends, and a seaside celebration for adults. In 2014, KBIA will offer 14 scholarships to local children. In the final year of KBIA’s 100th Anniversary Capital Campaign, its board is focusing on growing scholarships, so through September, it will match every $2 donated with $1. For more information, contact Executive Director Martin Lodish at mlodish@kbia.net.

Also this summer, KBIA will sponsor community events for all ages: the 23rd annual “A Day at the Beach” road race on July 6 and the fifth annual Reid Sacco Regatta on Aug. 10, as well as public-guided cove walks on July 5, July 20 and Aug. 2. All are open to the public.
