Back by popular demand, Brad Terry and Paul Sullivan return for another Jazz Jukebox Concert on June 6 at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, on the corner of Pleasant and Middle Street in Brunswick. They will again play the old standards from a menu of over 200 songs. You pick your favorite, and they will improvise a unique version of it on the spot, unrehearsed, unpredictable, and guaranteed fun! For an added treat William Galison and Peter Herman will be joining the improv masters for part of the show.
Paul Sullivan is a Grammy award winning composer and pianist, who regularly plays with The Paul Winter Consort. Paul has also performed worldwide with many important jazz musicians. The list starts with Benny Goodman and continues with too many more to name. He’s performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy and the Boston Pops with Arthur Fiedler and other Pops conductors.
Brad Terry is a renowned clarinetist, whistler, and master of improvised jazz. He has played with scores of distinguished Jazzmen, notably Dizzy Gillespie, Lenny Breau, Roger Kellaway, Buck Clayton, Buddy Tate, Steve Swallow, and Red Mitchell. Brad can also be heard with guitarist Lenny Breau on the two- CD set, ” The Complete Living Room Tapes.”
William Galison is a renowned jazz and studio harmonica player who has played on the soundtracks of many movies, including The Baghdad Cafe, as well as TV shows. (Yep, that’s him playing the Sesame Street Theme Song.) He has recorded with many known musicians such as Sting, Barbara Streisand, Carly Simon, and many more.
Brad Terry and Galison have been friends since Terry was teaching at Riverdale School in New York and Galison was in the sixth grade.
When asked about Peter Herman, Brad Terry began with a bit of his own history. “ I have been playing ‘Jazz’ ever since my childhood neighbor Benny Goodman convinced my mother to buy me a clarinet when I was fourteen. Since then I’ve been lucky to have known and be challenged by, played and recorded with some of the world’s greatest jazz players,” said Terry.
